On Tuesday 1st August the Royal Yorkshire Lodge recieved a talk from WBro Rodney Taylor on the history, usage and custom of masonic firing. The talk went into detail about how special glasses were used to give toasts by banging them on the table. He also described how clapping was used in many lodges as a replacement to the heavy firing glasses. The Worshipful Master described it as a most enlightening talk.
The Lodge proceed to hold an old English night at the festive board where a range of fines were imposed on the brethren for a number of misterminers. All the fines and proceeds went to masonic charities. As the meeting was the Royal Yorkshire Lodge’s family night, the meeting was well attended by over 20 visiting brethren.
