With the rise of the global COVID19 pandemic, the world and this lodge in particular, are facing challenges that are almost unprecedented in our 232 year history. We are having to adapt to conditions and restrictions never before seen in peace time and I know the Grand Master’s decsion to suspend all meeting of the Craft was the correct one in order to protect our members and the public.
Charity is one of the cornerstones of freemasonry and while the lodge is not meeting I would encourage all members and others to support our local hospital Airedale in the fight of this global pandemic. I would ask those to give the money they would have spent on their festive board meal, or as much as they feel they can give, to Support this cause.
I understand that the new restricts may put significant financial strain on members, especially those who are self employed. To this end I will be making avaliable financial support to those in dire need. Anyone who wishing to find out more should speak to myself or the Lodge Almoner directly. All enquires will be dealt with in complete confidentiality.
Also, while the lodge may may be meeting I know that social interaction is vitally important, especially in these difficult times and will be looking at ways to hold virtual social meetings of the lodge members and others. Details to follow.
Finally, I want to ask people to continue the fight against this virus by following the government advise, and want to remind you that you are not alone.
Mark Exley, Worshipful Master
