Today the Lodge remembered all those who had given the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country. With the Covid pandemic on going there was no formal act of rememberance or ceremony which lodge members could attend, so members marked the occasion in their own way with personal acts of rememberance.
The Worshipful Master, Mark Exley, today laid a wreath on behalf of the lodge at the cenotaph in Keighley which is outside the lodge building. He said “it was so important that we remember those who fought and died… [and] It was an honour represent the lodge in this act of rememberance”.
It is normal for the Royal Yorkshire Lodge to participate it the annual civic service to open up the lodge rooms for anyone to have tea or coffee afterwards. It is hoped that next years act of rememberance will be able to go ahead as normal.
We will remember them…
